The Record Newspaper July 10, 1953

During the “Forgotten War”, they would put pictures with small captions like this, of men entering service or Killed in Action.  This is a stark contrast with the columns of articles written of servicemen during World War II only 5 years earlier.

Dr. Robert J. Neville was living in Hackensack when he joined the service and was an orthopedic surgeon on the staff of Hackensack.   The interesting part of this brief caption is that it appeared in The Record Newspaper on July 10, 1953 only 17 days before the end of the Korean War on July 27, 1953.
